HISTORIC BRUNSWICK FOUNDATION

Brunswick's Future is its History

What We Do

HBF is a 501(c)(3) whose primary goal is to acquire endangered historic properties in Glynn County either through donation or purchase. The property is then secured against further decline and sold with covenants attached to consciensous buyers with the intent to rehabilitate the structure and bring it back into use. The funds received for the sale of these properties go into HBF's Revolving Fund which is then used toward asset upkeep, program support, and the acquisition of additional distressed properties in danger of demolition.

In support of this primary mission, HBF engages with the community through advocacy, education, outreach, promoting preservation, participating in civic endeavors, and organizing fundraising events and educational workshops. In addition, HBF supports its endeavors through memberships, grant writing, contacting property owners, meeting with lawmakers, attending Commission meetings, creating promotional materials and proposals, and coordinating with realty, legal and accounting professionals.

The end result is slowing the decline of our county's precious assets and revitalizing this vibrant historic community, one house at a time.

"Historic preservation clearly does much more than preserve bricks and mortar. It recognizes that our built history connects us in tangible ways with our past and provides context for the places we occupy and the world we live in"
